artnet is an online art marketplace and media company founded in 1989 and based in Berlin, Germany, operating through its subsidiary as an online resource for the art world in the United States and internationally. The company’s visual identity was refreshed in 2025 by the London-based design studio Village Green, which restructured artnet’s brand system around a modular, colour-blocked grid. The update retained artnet’s existing logo and typefaces while introducing a new palette and structured layout to improve usability and consistency across applications. [1]

Design and History

In 2019, artnet announced that it would be unveiling a new visual brand identity that year, as part of a broader refresh that also included a partnership with artist Anish Kapoor and a new podcast. [2]

The most recent documented brand refresh came in 2025, when Village Green took on the task of reimagining artnet’s brand system. The studio held on to the brand’s typefaces and logo, focusing instead on a grid system to add structure and a wider, bolder colour palette to breathe new life into the brand, which had been anchored in orange and grey for some time. [3] The resulting modular, colour-blocked grid system was designed for flexibility and longevity. [1]

Meaning and Symbolism

Village Green’s design team proposed a concept of “balancing art and luxury,” introducing high-saturation colour blocks and a modular grid system while retaining the brand’s signature orange but reducing its grey proportions. New auxiliary colours such as indigo and emerald green were added to create a visual rhythm described as “classic plus vitality.” [4]

Typography and Design

Village Green retained artnet’s existing typefaces as part of the 2025 brand refresh. [3] The design system uses a dynamic grid architecture that adapts across reports, advertising, and digital interfaces, with modular containers separating artwork, copy, and brand elements to address readability when images and text overlap.
