Rex Granby Studios is a United Kingdom-based artist’s agent brand. Its symbol was originally designed by Tony Forster in 1968.[1]
Design and History
Tony Forster (1941–2008) was a self-taught lettering artist and calligrapher based in Manchester, UK.[2] He began his career at sixteen as a junior designer at Artel Studios in Manchester, and later formed FC & M Design Partnership in 1976 before becoming creative director at Drawing Board in Manchester until 1995.[3] Forster is also known for designing logos for the rock band 10cc and the stationery chain Paperchase.[4]
The Rex Granby Studios mark, created in 1968, is categorized among arrow, circle, and dot logos, reflecting the geometric simplicity common to late-1960s British graphic identity.[1]
Meaning and Symbolism
Documented symbolism for the Rex Granby Studios mark is limited. The logo’s arrow, circle, and dot elements are noted in design databases, but no official source describes a specific symbolic meaning behind these shapes.[1]
