Bank vom Linthgebiet, Uznach was a Swiss regional bank founded in 1848 as the Leih- & Spar-Kassa des See-Bezirks in Uznach, later renamed Bank vom Linthgebiet. The bank operated under this name until 1994, when it was renamed Bank Linth following a series of mergers. Today the institution operates as LLB (Schweiz) AG, part of the Liechtensteinische Landesbank group. [1]

Design and History

The bank’s history is well established: it was founded in 1848, adopted the Swiss franc system in 1852, and acquired the Spar- und Leihkasse Schmerikon in 1967. [1] A jubilee publication, “Zwischen Zürichsee und Walensee,” was issued in 1974 to mark the bank’s 125th anniversary. [2]

In 1988, the bank merged with the Sarganserländische Bank, followed by a merger with the Sparkasse Stäfa and the acquisition of the Sparkasse Uetikon in 1993. These consolidations led to the renaming of the institution to Bank Linth in 1994. [1]

In September 2023, Bank Linth was renamed LLB (Schweiz) AG as part of a group-wide brand unification by the Liechtensteinische Landesbank. The new logo consists of the lowercase letters “llb” set in bold, combined with the year 1861, the founding date of the LLB. The LLB’s dark green corporate color was retained, with the year rendered in beige gold. [3] The rebranding was designed to bring the various subsidiary banks closer together visually. [4]

Meaning and Symbolism

Regarding the current LLB logo, the green color was deliberately retained as a key part of the identity, and the founding year 1861 is included as a reference to the bank’s heritage. [5] The beige gold of the year was described as a color code of high quality. [3]

No verified documentation exists for a 1969 logo by a designer named Peter Hablützel for Bank vom Linthgebiet. The only Peter Hablützel associated with logo design in available records is credited with a 1970 symbol for Battery & Electric Service, a Canadian brand, while working at Gazette Printing Company. [6] This attribution comes from a logo database and should be treated with caution.
