Pacesetter Bank was a commercial bank based in Hartford City, Indiana, established on January 4, 1965, at 1515 North Walnut Street.[1] The bank operated under the Pacesetter name until it was acquired by Citizens State Bank of New Castle, Indiana, on September 21, 2013.[2]
Design and History
Documented visual information about the Pacesetter Bank logo is limited. The bank’s name was registered as a trademark by First Interstate Bancorp in December 1989, though that filing was later cancelled.[3] A separate trademark for “Pacesetter Banking” was also filed by First Interstate Bancorp on December 27, 1989, and is no longer active.[4]
Some logo databases list a “Pacesetter” logo available in vector format, though these sources do not confirm whether the mark corresponds to the bank or to another organization using the Pacesetter name.[5] A vector file of a Pacesetter logo has been circulated on download sites, but its provenance and connection to the Hartford City bank cannot be verified from available sources.[6]
Claims that the logo was designed in 1970 by James Lienhart, a Chicago-based graphic designer recognized for corporate communications work,[7] could not be confirmed through available research. Lienhart’s portfolio includes corporate identity work from the 1970s, including a logo for Darby Lithography in 1975,[8] but no documented connection between Lienhart and Pacesetter Bank was found.
Meaning and Symbolism
No authoritative source documents the symbolism, color palette, or design intent behind the Pacesetter Bank logo. The bank’s name suggests the idea of setting the pace, but any interpretation of the mark’s visual elements remains speculative without primary documentation.
