Voogelaar & Smulders was a Dutch brokerage firm active in the foreign exchange, money and capital markets. Founded in 1943, it operated as an independent intermediary until 1993, when it merged with two other brokers to form Oolders, Heijning & Voogelaar (OHV).[1]
Design and History
Voogelaar & Smulders was established in 1943 as one of three Dutch brokerage firms that would later combine their operations.[1] The firm was active in the international money and capital markets, and in 1967 it co-founded the partnership Interfico together with Oolders & De Jong and Wallich & Matthes, which focused exclusively on international money and capital market brokerage.[2]
In 1993, Voogelaar & Smulders merged with Oolders (est. 1932) and Heijning & Broersen (est. 1983) to create OHV. The merger was requested by the major Dutch banks to create a single point of access to the market.[1] Following the merger, the Voogelaar & Smulders name ceased to exist as a separate brand.
No verifiable documentation of a dedicated Voogelaar & Smulders logo has been located in available sources. The firm’s visual identity, if one existed as a standalone mark, has not been preserved in accessible archives or publications. The company operated for five decades as a specialist intermediary, and its identity was primarily tied to its brokerage activities rather than a widely distributed consumer brand.
