VEB Chemieausrüstungen Magdeburg was the East German state-owned successor to Möller & Schulze A.G., a machinery and apparatus factory founded in 1890 in Magdeburg-Neustadt by partners Albert Möller and Franz Schulze. After the company was nationalized in the German Democratic Republic, it operated under the name VEB Chemieausrüstungen Magdeburg, producing equipment and plants for the chemical industry such as large containers, agitator vessels, bleaching and refining plants, vacuum and aluminum apparatus, and stainless steel tanks for wine production.[1][2]

Design and History

The VEB Chemieausrüstungen symbol was designed in 1965 by Fritz Deutschendorf, a German commercial graphic artist who worked as a freelance designer in Erfurt after 1945, creating trademarks, packaging, posters, and lettering.[3][4] Deutschendorf was a prolific designer of logos for businesses in the GDR, alongside his better-known work creating postage stamps for the Deutsche Post of the GDR.[5]

The mark is documented as a geometric design incorporating circle and square shapes with stripes, consistent with the functional, unadorned corporate identity style common in East German industrial branding of the period.[3]
