Stroygazmontazh, also known as SGM Group, is a Russian construction holding company specializing in oil and gas infrastructure projects. The company was formed in 2008 and is headquartered in Moscow.[1] Its visual identity is built around the SGM abbreviation, which appears in several registered trademarks held by the company.
Design and History
The SGM Group logo was designed by Russian designer Kirill Mishin. The mark merges the initial letters of the holding’s name into a single abstract symbol. According to the designer’s project description, the fusion of the letters forms a circular diagram that also symbolizes the unity of the companies within the holding.[2] The project was published on Behance in 2016.[2]
Stroygazmontazh has registered several trademarks related to its identity. The word mark “СГМ” (SGM) was registered on December 28, 2010, and the combined mark “СГМ SGM” followed on February 16, 2011.[3][4] A fuller trademark combining the Cyrillic and Latin forms, “СТРОЙГАЗМОНТАЖ СГМ СТРОЙГАЗМОНТАЖ,” was registered on October 19, 2011.[5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The circular diagram formed by the merged letters in the SGM Group logo is described by the designer as representing the unity of the companies within the holding.[2] This documented meaning ties the abstract form directly to the corporate structure of the group.
Typography and Design
The corporate colors of SGM are gray, white, and orange. A description of the company’s official website notes that the site design was executed in accordance with these corporate colors.[6] The logo itself is built around the SGM letterforms, with the letters merged into a single graphic unit rather than set as standalone typography.[2]
