Audiomat is a French high-fidelity audio manufacturer founded in 1986 near Auriol by brothers Denis and Norbert Clarisse.[1] The company designs and builds tube amplifiers and digital-to-analog converters, with its first amplifier, the OTL, featuring 16 triode tubes, followed by the Prélude amplifier in 1987 and the Tempo 1 converter in 1993.[1]

Design and History

Documentation of a 1968 Audiomat logo designed by French artist Philippe Caza could not be verified through available sources. The earliest confirmed reference to the Audiomat brand dates to 1986, when the company was founded by the Clarisse brothers.[1] A separate French company named Audiomat, registered in June 1992 and located in La Destrousse, also operates under the same name, manufacturing consumer electronics.[2]

Philippe Caza, born Philippe Cazaumayou in Paris in 1941, is a French comic artist and illustrator known for science fiction work, including covers for J’ai Lu and Éditions Opta.[3] He worked as a commercial artist for ten years before publishing his first comic album in 1970.[4] While Caza has created posters and illustrations for various clients, no reliable source confirms he designed a logo for an Audiomat company in 1968.

The claim of a 1968 Audiomat logo appears in an unverified article lead. Given that the earliest documented Audiomat brand dates to 1986, the 1968 attribution remains unsubstantiated. [1]
