FH Dağlarca is an education brand from Turkey whose symbol was originally designed by Turkish graphic designer Sait Maden in 1995.[1] The mark is associated with the legacy of Fazıl Hüsnü Dağlarca, one of Turkey’s most prominent poets, whose name the brand carries.
Design and History
Sait Maden (1931–2013) was one of the most important figures in Turkish graphic design, having designed around 500 logos over his career alongside roughly 8,000 book and magazine covers.[2] He compiled 150 examples of his emblem and logo work into the book “Simgeler” (Symbols), published in 1990.[3]
The FH Dağlarca symbol was created by Maden in 1995, five years after that compilation appeared.[1] The logo is described as featuring a stripes-based shape, and it is categorized among designs with a Turkey-related stripe motif.[1]
Maden had a long-standing connection to Dağlarca’s literary world. He provided illustrations for Dağlarca’s 1974 book “Uçsuz Bucaksız Yaşama” and designed the cover for Dağlarca’s 1966 “Vietnam Savaşımız,” among other collaborations.[4][5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The logo is recorded as an education brand identity from Turkey, with the design described primarily in terms of its stripe-based, Turkey-related shape.[1]
