Suglo was a Belgian food company based in Wommelgem, near Antwerp. The firm operated from Nijverheidsstraat 56 and was absorbed by Zeelandia N.V. on 5 July 2000, after which the Suglo entity was discontinued.[1]
Design and History
The Suglo mark is attributed to Belgian graphic designer Paul Ibou, the pseudonym of Paul Vermeersch (1939-2023).[2] Ibou began working as an independent graphic designer in the early 1960s and played a pioneering role in developing clear visual identities for Belgian companies and organizations.[3] He designed more than 350 logos and symbols during his career.[4]
To convince clients of his proposals, Ibou created three-dimensional presentations of his logos, which he called logo-objects. These objects formed part of his logotheek, a collection now preserved by Design Museum Gent.[5] The Suglo mark is dated to 1973, a period when Ibou was producing numerous identity marks for Belgian businesses.
Documentation of the Suglo mark’s specific visual features, official colors, or typography is not available in the sources consulted. The company’s Belgian business registry entry confirms only its name, address, and corporate history, not its branding.[1]
Logo Index is an independent educational archive covering logos, visual identities and graphic design history. All trademarks and brand assets remain the property of their respective owners.
