Argus Press is a commercial printing company based in Niles, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The company traces its roots to the 1920s, when it began as a family-run letterpress operation in Chicago, and it later became known as a commercial printer and communication resource company.[1][2]
Design and History
The Argus Press logo was designed by Fred E. Denzler in 1976.[3] The mark is described as a square, block-style figure logo with rounded elements.[3] Beyond this basic visual description and the designer attribution, no further documented details about the logo’s construction, redesign history, or the circumstances of its creation are available in the research sources.
Argus Press operated as a division of Nationwide Graphics/Premier Print Organization in the late 2000s.[2] In June 2010, Nationwide Graphics sold Argus Press’s assets and business to PGC Imagine Graphics, LLC.[4] The company’s current ownership and branding status following that sale are not documented in the available sources.
Separately, the name “Argus Press” has also been associated with DLM, Inc., an educational products company that operated at the same Niles, Illinois address. Trademark records show that “The Argus Press Incorporated” changed its name to DLM, Inc., located at 7440 Natchez Ave., Niles, Illinois.[5] DLM, Inc. was founded by Richard C. Leach as a parent organization for Developmental Learning Materials, Argus Communications, and Argus Press.[6]
