Press Green is a York-based print, design and display company that operates from 20-22 Lord Mayor’s Walk in North Yorkshire.[1] The business traces its origins to 1985, when it began offering in-house copying and printing facilities to local architects.[2] Today it describes itself as a full-service creative agency specialising in printed marketing, exhibition graphics, graphic display and signage installations.[1]

Design and History

Press Green’s current identity emerged from a company rebrand in 2013. After nearly 30 years of trading as The Architect Shop, the business refurbished its offices and brand, reopening as Press Green Ltd at an official ceremony attended by the Lord Mayor of York.[2] The company was formally incorporated under the Press Green Ltd name in February 2013.[3]

The name change marked a deliberate shift in positioning. While the old name reflected the firm’s architectural client base, the new identity was built around the company’s broader print and design services. The company’s own materials describe it as “a specialised team of designers, printers and thinkers.”[4]

Meaning and Symbolism

The wordmark pairs the company’s name with the colour green, but no primary source confirms whether this was chosen to reference environmental values, the printing trade, or another concept.

Typography and Design

The company’s website is currently undergoing maintenance and does not display a clear logo image.[5] No credible attribution to a specific design agency or individual has been verified for this identity.
