Solite Limited was a private British company incorporated on 9 August 1963, with its registered office at 23 Kildare Terrace, London. The company was dissolved on 2 August 2016 via voluntary strike-off. Its registered nature of business was listed as development of building projects and real estate agencies, not mining or metals as sometimes claimed. [1]

Design and History

Documented evidence for a 1965 Solite logo designed by Ian Bradbery is extremely thin. No primary source, design archive, or reputable reference confirms that Bradbery created a mark for Solite, nor that the company operated in the mining and metals sector. The only verifiable connection between Bradbery and corporate design work in the 1960s is his role as exhibition designer for the “Design Centre comes to Liverpool” exhibition held at Bluecoat Chambers in 1960, organized by the Council of Industrial Design. [2]

Two individuals named Ian Bradbery appear in art databases: Ian Westwood Bradbery (born 31 December 1918 in London), a typographer and graphic designer, and another Ian Bradbery (born 18 December 1931 in London), also a graphic designer. [3] [4] Neither record mentions work for Solite.

Given the absence of reliable documentation, the claims that Solite used a geometric mark conveying “stability and industrial strength” or that its wordmark was designed by Bradbery in 1965 cannot be verified. The company’s actual registered business activities point toward property development rather than heavy industry, further undermining the mining and metals narrative.

Readers seeking the Solite identity should note that the name has been used by multiple unrelated entities, including a Korean battery manufacturer and a surf boot company founded in 2017. [5] [6] None of these share a documented connection to the dissolved London company.
