Alvit is an Italian lighting company based in Biassono, specializing in power supplies, LED control systems and emergency lighting. The company was founded in 1988 as a family business and was acquired in 2020 by two Italian lighting companies, Elettroservice and Entity. [1]
Design and History
Alvit’s logo was originally designed by Nicola Russo in 1973. [2] Russo was a graphic designer of Trentino origin who worked primarily in Padua, Italy, and was a member of the Italian graphic design association AIAP from 1971. [3] His portfolio included marks for companies such as Gemmo, York, Coelsanus, Fisa, Banca Antonveneta and the Camera di Commercio di Padova. [3]
The mark is described as a circle-shaped, rounded logo. [2] While the logo predates the founding of the current Alvit lighting company by 15 years, the mark has been associated with the Alvit name since its creation. The company’s own history page does not document any subsequent redesign of the logo. [1]
Meaning and Symbolism
No official documentation from Alvit or from Nicola Russo’s archive explains the intended symbolism of the logo’s circular form or any specific meaning behind its elements. The mark’s rounded, circular shape is its most distinctive documented feature. [2]
