Football Bourg-en-Bresse Péronnas 01, commonly shortened to FBBP01, is a French football club based in Péronnas, in the Ain department. The club was formed in 1942 through the merger of FC Bourg and US Bourg-Péronnas, and it adopted its current name in 2015 upon reaching Ligue 2 for the first time.[1] The club’s official colors are blue and white.[2]
Design and History
The club’s first official crest was adopted in 1942, following the merger that created Football Club Bourg-Péronnas. That badge featured the initials FCBP arranged around a black-and-white football, framed by blue and red outlines, and it remained essentially unchanged for more than seventy years.[1]
In 2015, after the club earned promotion to Ligue 2 and rebranded as Football Bourg-en-Bresse Péronnas 01, a completely new shield-shaped crest was introduced. The modern blue shield prominently displays the initials FBBP, with the club’s full name appearing in smaller lettering on the right side.[1] The new logo was worn on the club’s home kit beginning with the 2015-2016 season.[3]
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2015 crest incorporates several elements tied to the club’s local identity. A stylised pink-orange bird stretches diagonally across the badge, inspired by the logos of the municipalities of Bourg-en-Bresse and Péronnas, and symbolises the union between the two neighbouring communities. At the base of the shield, the outline of the Ain department appears alongside the number 01, the official department code of Ain, reinforcing the club’s regional identity.[1]
