Llantwit Major A.F.C. is a Welsh football club based in the town of Llantwit Major in the Vale of Glamorgan, founded in 1962. The club competes in the Cymru South, the second tier of Welsh football, and plays its home matches at the UWL Stadium on Windmill Lane.[1][2]
Design and History
The club’s visual identity is built around a shield-shaped crest that appears on the left breast of match shirts.[3] The crest is displayed prominently on home, away and goalkeeper kits produced by kit manufacturer Tor Sports.[3][4]
The club’s traditional playing colours are blue and gold, a scheme that has been used in its home kits across recent seasons. The 2023-24 home shirt was described as navy and yellow, while the 2025-26 home kit was listed in blue and navy.[5][6] The club has also released away kits in yellow, blue and white, and a 2023-24 away shirt in green and orange.[7][8]
In 2022, the club released a home kit inspired by Argentine club Boca Juniors, whose colours are also blue and gold. The shirt was described as being “inspired by our brothers blue and yellow Boca Juniors.”[9] A later 2026-27 home kit continued the Boca-inspired theme, featuring a windmill silhouette at the lower portion of the shirt.[10]
Meaning and Symbolism
The club’s home ground is located on Windmill Lane, and the windmill motif that has appeared on recent kits references the local Frampton Windmill, a ruined stone tower in the Llantwit Major area.[2][11]
