ONE Championship, formerly known as ONE Fighting Championship (ONE FC), is a Singapore-headquartered martial arts organization that promotes mixed martial arts, Muay Thai, kickboxing, and submission grappling events across Asia and beyond. Its visual identity centers on a bold wordmark built around the word “ONE,” a name its founders deliberately chose to transcend language barriers across the region’s diverse markets.

Design and History

ONE Championship launched in 2011 under the name ONE Fighting Championship, commonly abbreviated as ONE FC. In early 2015, the organization dropped the word “Fighting” from its name and rebranded as ONE Championship. CEO Victor Cui explained that the change was driven primarily by linguistic and cultural considerations: the majority of ONE’s audience does not speak English as a first language, and translating the word “fighting” into dozens of Asian languages proved cumbersome for partners and sponsors. Cui noted that if he had that insight at the time of founding, the organization would have been called ONE Championship from the start, calling the switch a “natural progression” for the promotion. He also stated that he originally picked the name “ONE” because it transcended the language barrier, meaning “the top” and “the best” in a way that everyone could say and understand. [1]

The rebranding was also reported to have been made because some potential sponsors and partners had reservations about associating with an organization whose name contained the word “fight.” [2]

ONE Championship’s current logo is a wordmark-style mark featuring the text “ONE” in bold, uppercase letterforms. The organization’s official merchandise store sells a metal collar pin bearing the logo, confirming the mark’s standalone use as a brand emblem. [3] The logo also appears prominently on the organization’s championship belts, where it serves as the centerpiece of a larger ornamental design.

Meaning and Symbolism

Documented symbolism for the ONE Championship logo comes primarily from descriptions of the organization’s world championship belt, which features the logo as its central element. The belt design includes a pair of warring lions that frame the centerpiece ONE Championship logo, representing royalty and prestige, complemented by a crown motif at the belt’s apex. Two blood-red rubies are placed in the eyes of the lions. [4]

In 2022, ONE Championship unveiled a redesigned world championship belt to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The new belt features a black leather strap with three gold metal plates, with the ONE logo prominently engraved at the center and the words “ONE World Champion” above it. A crown engraved above the logo is adorned with seven red gemstones, which symbolize the seven core values of martial arts: honesty, humanity, honor and dignity, humility, courage, discipline, and compassion. The side plates feature the ONE logo surrounded by 42 white gemstones. [5]

Typography and Design

The ONE Championship logo uses bold, uppercase letterforms for the word “ONE,” a design choice consistent with the organization’s stated goal of creating a name that is simple, universally understood, and easy to translate across the many languages of its Asian audience. [1] The mark functions as a standalone wordmark in merchandise applications such as the official logo collar pin. [3]

No official designer or agency attribution for the ONE Championship logo has been publicly documented in available sources.
