Tingsryds AIF, commonly abbreviated TAIF, is an ice hockey club based in Tingsryd, Sweden. The club was founded in 1923 and is known as “det grönvita laget” (the green and white team), a nickname tied directly to its long-standing club colors.[1]
Design and History
The club’s green and white identity dates to the early 1960s, when the hockey team began playing in these colors. Before that period, the team’s appearance was markedly different. During much of the 1950s, players wore blue jerseys with a yellow stripe and red pants. In the very first seasons of hockey in Tingsryd, during the late 1940s and early 1950s, the team wore yellow jerseys with white stripes on the chest and dark pants.[1]
Since adopting green and white in the early 1960s, the club has introduced variations. Red accents appeared on the shoulder area of jerseys for several years, and the color of the pants has alternated between green, red, and white. For the 1972/73 season, the team wore a full red uniform with both red jerseys and red pants.[1]
In February 2023, as part of the club’s 100-year anniversary celebration, Tingsryds AIF played a jubilee match against Södertälje SK wearing the yellow jerseys with white stripes from the club’s earliest hockey era.[1]
Meaning and Symbolism
The club’s documented identity is built on its green and white color scheme, which has been in continuous use since the early 1960s. The club itself refers to this palette as its defining characteristic, calling itself “det grönvita laget.”[1] No official source documents additional symbolic meaning behind the colors or the club emblem.
