Tracktivity was a motor racing information platform and iOS app that aggregated venue and event data for racing enthusiasts. The brand identity was created by the Glasgow-based design studio Freytag Anderson, which handled the corporate identity, art direction, UI design, website and print work for the project.[1]
Design and History
Tracktivity was developed as a mobile-first platform connecting motor racing venues with fans, drivers and businesses, allowing promoters to share information, sell tickets and engage with their audience through the app.[1][2] The app launched on iOS in late 2014 and was publicly showcased on Product Hunt in April 2015.[3][4]
Freytag Anderson documented the project on its portfolio, describing the goal as designing an identity system that was “both intuitive and exciting, drawing upon the rich visual language of motor racing.”[1] The studio created a complete series of brand assets, including UI design and bespoke iconography for online and mobile applications.[1] The app UI design was developed in collaboration with Tapmates, and the website design was done in collaboration with Bauholz.[5]
Freytag Anderson shared an icon for the project on Dribbble, describing Tracktivity as “the world’s biggest database of racing venues and events.”[6]
Meaning and Symbolism
The studio’s stated approach was to make the identity immediately understandable to its racing audience while drawing on the visual language of motor racing.[1][5] Beyond this documented intent, no specific symbolism for individual elements of the mark has been publicly detailed by the designers.
