Yext is a New York-based digital knowledge management and search platform founded in 2006. The company’s visual identity has evolved through several distinct phases, from a colorful early wordmark to the monochromatic circular mark used today.

Design and History

Yext’s earliest documented logo, filed as a trademark in January 2009, was a wordmark featuring the letters “yext” in blue font with an orange exclamation point and an orange semi-circular portion of the letter “e.” The trademark filing explicitly claims blue and orange as features of the mark.[1]

According to Yext’s own company history, the firm rebranded in 2019 when it launched its Search product, an event the company describes as transforming the business and dramatically expanding its addressable market.[2] The rebrand was led internally by Owen Fegan, who joined Yext as Vice President and Creative Director in 2017. Fegan, a former design director at Rolling Stone and New York Magazine, was tasked with building Yext’s internal creative team and shaping the company’s brand identity from the ground up.[3] Media reports from October 2019 confirm that Fegan joined Yext four years prior to build an internal agency and rebrand the company, working with agency TBWA\Chiat\Day NY on Yext’s first major advertising campaign.[4]

The current Yext logo consists of a circular mark containing the word “YEXT” with the letters “YE” positioned above the letters “XT,” as documented in trademark filings for related Yext sub-brands.[5] The company’s primary brand color is black, which was confirmed when Yext acquired Hearsay Systems and rebranded the platform in June 2025, replacing Hearsay’s teal color with Yext’s black.[6]

Meaning and Symbolism

Yext’s brand positioning centers on the phrase “Perfect Answers Everywhere,” which the company filed as a trademark in May 2019 alongside its rebrand.[7] The company’s office design documentation describes black and white as Yext’s primary brand colors, noting that the “bold and simple binary palette echoes Yext’s steadfast vision that there is no grey area when it comes to delivering perfect answers everywhere.”[8]

Yext’s partner branding guidelines specify that partner logos must always be rendered as white text in a black rectangle container, or black text in a white container, reinforcing the strict monochromatic approach to the brand’s visual identity.[9]

Typography and Design

Yext’s brand identity work has been directed internally by its creative team under Fegan, who described grappling with “the nuances of font weight and color code” as part of shaping the company’s creative vision.[3] The company’s Search product documentation notes that Yext provides both black and white versions of its logo for use on light and dark backgrounds respectively.[10]

For the ONWARD19 user conference held in November 2019, the first major event following the rebrand, Yext’s creative team applied a “bold black and white palette” across all conference branding elements.[11]
