Euroceramica is the name shared by two distinct ceramic companies: an Italian manufacturer founded in 1959 near Bologna and a Colombian brand that underwent a major identity renewal in 2023. The Italian firm operated under the name Euroceramica S.p.A. in Anzola dell’Emilia, while the Colombian company Eurocerámica S.A. is a subsidiary of Grupo Lamosa. The two are separate entities with separate visual identities.
Design and History
The Italian Euroceramica S.p.A. was founded on 24 November 1959 in Anzola, in the province of Bologna, with Novello Benatti as founder and director. The company ceased operations in 1983. Its advertising slogan was “Il meglio per le esigenze moderne della casa di oggi” (The best for the modern needs of today’s home), recorded in 1980.[1]
An early Euroceramica mark appears on the reverse of a ceramic tile held in the Mater Ceramica collection. The back of the tile bears the text “EUROCERAMICA ANZOLA E. BOLOGNA” arranged in a circle, with a sun symbol and the letters “EC” inside the circle.[2]
The Colombian Eurocerámica, founded in 1988 by Antioquian entrepreneurs, renewed its corporate identity in 2023. The company described the change as “more than a logo change,” framing it as a transformation of how the brand approaches design and decoration in the Colombian market.[3] In 2020, the Colombian plant and brand joined Grupo Lamosa.[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2023 Colombian Eurocerámica logo is documented through its trademark registration. The mark consists of a gray triangle design, below which appears a blue triangle design, below which appears a larger dark blue triangle design. To the right of the triangles appears the wording “EURO” in dark blue stylized letters, below which appears the word “CERÁMICA” in gray stylized letters.[5]
The company’s own description of the 2023 rebrand emphasizes creativity and design innovation, stating that the brand works on products with original designs and new sizes, shapes, colors and textures, aiming to update the aesthetic language of coverings.[4]
Typography and Design
The 2023 Colombian logo uses stylized lettering for both “EURO” and “CERÁMICA,” with the two words stacked vertically. The triangle motif appears to the left of the wordmark, with three triangles stacked in descending size. The trademark description confirms the color scheme: dark blue for “EURO” and the largest triangle, blue for the middle triangle, and gray for the smallest triangle and the word “CERÁMICA.”[5]
