Castrosua, formally Carrocera Castrosua, S.A., is a Spanish bus and coach bodybuilder headquartered in Santiago de Compostela. The company was founded in 1948 in O Carballiño by José Castro Suárez and is currently based in Santiago de Compostela, where it operates a 45,000 m² plant and employs over 290 people.[1]
Design and History
Castrosua’s current visual identity dates to 2014, when the company presented a new corporate image intended to “aglutinar y reflejar el pasado, el presente y, sobre todo, el futuro” (bring together and reflect the past, the present and, above all, the future) of the company.[2] The new logo was designed to serve as a common reference for both Castrosua and Carsa (Castro Carrocera S.A.), a group company based in Vilagarcía de Arousa, unifying the previously separate brand images under a single mark.[3]
Prior to 2009, Castrosua and Carsa conducted advertising campaigns separately. From 2009 onward, campaigns were unified for a brief period during which both logos coexisted in the graphics. The 2014 rebrand consolidated these into one logo adapted to the times.[3]
The first advertisement conceived under the new corporate identity featured the New City urban bus model, slightly silhouetted against a blue background, with the corporate values of reliability, evolution, quality, innovation, flexibility and commitment presented textually.[3]
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2014 rebrand was explicitly intended to unify the previously differentiated images of Castrosua and Carsa around a single logo, consolidating the group’s communication under the global Castrosua brand.[3] The company’s own account of the rebrand describes the logo as “adapted to the new times” without detailing specific symbolic elements within the mark itself.[3]
Typography and Design
The Castrosua mark is a typographic wordmark. The company’s own documentation does not specify the typeface used in the logo, nor does it provide official color specifications. The first campaign under the new identity used a blue background in its graphics, but no official brand color values have been published by the company.[3]
