FinecoBank is an Italian financial institution headquartered in Milan, established in 1999 as an online broker and specializing in online banking and investment services.[1] The bank’s visual identity has centered on a wordmark-based logo that pairs the “FINECO” name with a distinctive color combination of blue and yellow.
Design and History
In April 2016, FinecoBank introduced a new logo, described by the bank as having a “modern and clean design” intended to represent the bank’s image and its mission: simplifying the way banking is done through technological innovation.[2][3] The announcement was made by Fineco, then a multichannel bank of the UniCredit group.[3]
The current mark presents the word “FINECO” in bold, uppercase letters in a golden hue against a deep blue, rounded rectangular backdrop.[4] The design is minimalist and purely typographic, avoiding imagery in favor of a wordmark-only approach.[5]
FinecoBank’s trademark registration, filed in November 2014 and entered in the register in July 2016, claims colors in Blue (Pantone 2945) and Yellow (Pantone 123).[6]
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2016 logo was designed to convey the bank’s contemporary image and its mission of simplifying banking through technological innovation.[2][3] The rounded rectangular shape has been noted as suggesting accessibility and friendliness, a departure from the more corporate square of earlier designs.[4]
Typography and Design
The FinecoBank wordmark uses a blocky, sans-serif typeface for the “FINECO” name, rendered in bold uppercase letters.[4][5] The letter “E” in the wordmark features a distinctive treatment, with the middle stroke designed differently from the top and bottom strokes.[5]
