Design and History
The Industrial Bank emblem is an abstract symbol whose design concept draws from the Chinese ancient coin and the letter “G,” the initial of the English word “Goldsmith.” This creative origin is intended to directly reflect the bank’s industry attribute. [3] The same explanation of the emblem’s origin, citing the ancient coin and the “Goldsmith” initial, was presented by former Industrial Bank executive director and board secretary Tang Bin during a bank history lecture for the bank’s Chengdu branch. [4]
According to the same documented description, the rotating, flowing lines of the mark convey dynamism and vitality, representing the bank’s spirit of innovation, enterprise and cooperation. The overall structure, which folds inward and spirals outward, follows the traditional Chinese cultural concept of “round heaven and square earth,” symbolizing compliant operation and sincere service. The upward-widening trajectory communicates the bank’s philosophy of growing together with customers, shareholders, employees and society. The mark forms an ellipse through rotation, with a vortex opening from the inside outward, implying unlimited expansive potential and the long-term vision of building a century-old bank. [3]
An earlier iteration of the bank’s emblem, used before 1997, featured a round square-hole coin design incorporating the letter “F” for Fujian, the bank’s home province. In December 1997, Fujian Industrial Bank formally adopted a corporate identity system and changed its emblem. [5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The current emblem’s design concept is rooted in two elements: the Chinese ancient coin, which expresses the banking attribute, and the letter “G” from “Goldsmith,” reinforcing the financial profession. The rotating coin motif is also described as suggesting the circulation and convergence of bank funds. [3] [5]
Typography and Design
The bank’s official website displays the Chinese name 兴业银行 alongside the English name “Industrial Bank” in its branding. [6] In August 2025, the bank released its branch standardization V3.0 manual, which introduced a refreshed branch visual environment featuring “brand blue” and “environmental green” colors throughout the spaces. [7] In August 2026, the bank announced it would update the mobile banking app icon to optimize user experience. [8]
