Kellock Factors was a UK-based factoring and invoice discounting firm, active from at least the early 1980s through the 1990s. It operated as a subsidiary of the Bank of Scotland group, listed under Kellock Holdings Ltd. in the bank’s corporate structure.[1] The company was a member of the Association of British Factors, the UK industry body for receivables financing.[2]

Design and History

Documented evidence for a Kellock Factors logo designed by Kenneth Hollick in 1976 is limited. Hollick is a confirmed British designer known for his 1974 logo for Greater Manchester Transport, which used a distinctive double “M” mark inside a rounded square.[3] He also designed a symbol for British Tissues in 1976.[4] Hollick’s work appears in the design reference book Trademarks & Symbols of the World, which includes several of his marks.[4]

No primary source has been found that confirms Hollick designed a Kellock Factors logo, nor that such a logo was created in 1976. The company’s earliest documented activity in the available records dates to the early 1980s, when it was entering into factoring agreements under the name Kellock Factors Limited.[5] By 1990, the firm was operating as Kellock Limited.[6]

Meaning and Symbolism

No documented symbolism or design intent for a Kellock Factors logo has been located. Without a verifiable source describing the mark’s meaning, any interpretation of its visual elements would be speculative. The company’s role as a factoring and invoice discounting provider is well documented through its commercial agreements, but no official description of its visual identity has been found in the available research.[7]
