UnipolSai Assicurazioni was the insurance company of the Unipol Group, created in 2014 through the merger of Unipol Assicurazioni with Fondiaria-Sai. The brand operated until 1 January 2025, when the merger of Unipol Gruppo and UnipolSai Assicurazioni brought the UnipolSai name to an end, with the new Unipol Assicurazioni becoming official. Design and History
The UnipolSai wordmark was developed by the inTesta agency, part of the Armando Testa Group, which had managed Unipol’s corporate identity projects since 2010. Following the merger between Unipol Assicurazioni and the Fondiaria Sai Group, inTesta defined the new UnipolSai Assicurazioni brand. [3]
The logo retained the font and colors of the Unipol mark while adding the suffix “Sai” to symbolize the union of two different worlds coming together. [2] The initial of the Sai acronym was interpreted according to the key visual language of the Unipol mark, in which the U becomes a transparent ribbon. The institutional red color of Unipol Assicurazioni reinforced the brand’s belonging to the insurance division. [3]
In 2017, the logos of the Group lost the gradient in the letter U in favor of a solid, more modern color, reflecting the evolution and innovation of the Group’s activities. [2]
In 2020, during the COVID-19 emergency, Unipol introduced a “Tricolour Edition” of its logo, adding a ribbon with the colors of the Italian flag to express pride in being Italian and support for the country. The inTesta agency was responsible for designing this special version. [4] [5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The UnipolSai mark built on the conceptual values of transparency and closeness expressed by the Unipol brand, with the U rendered as a transparent ribbon. [3] The institutional red color of Unipol Assicurazioni was used to strengthen the brand’s belonging to the insurance division. [3]
Following the 2025 merger, the new Unipol logo continues the same colors and font, with the strokes of the U meeting in an embrace to express protection and closeness to customers and stakeholders. The tricolor ribbon was extended to the entire mark to highlight Unipol’s deep roots in the Italian community. [1] [2]
