Unistream is a Russian money transfer system that began in 2001 as a department of Uniastrum Bank before becoming an independent commercial bank in 2006.[1] The brand operates under the legal name UNISTREAM Commercial Bank (JSC), with its headquarters in Moscow.[2]

Design and History

The current Unistream logo consists of the wordmark “UNISTREAM” set inside two ovals, as documented in the trademark registration filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.[2] The mark is registered for banking services including electronic funds transfer and home banking.[2]

Brand asset data for unistream.ru lists the primary brand color as a yellow tone with the hex code #FED300.[3]

The Unistream brand traces its visual lineage to Uniastrum Bank, which underwent a significant corporate identity change beginning July 1, 2010. The bank announced that the change was driven by the need to align its corporate style with the graphic standards of the Bank of Cyprus Group, which Uniastrum had joined in late 2008.[4] The changes affected the color and typographic treatment, and introduced a graphic element into the Uniastrum logo that unified all companies within the Bank of Cyprus Group.[4] The rollout was gradual, beginning in Moscow and extending to regional offices, with the new logo expected to be fully introduced by the end of 2011.[4]

The rebranding work for Uniastrum Bank was completed by the FRONT:DESIGN brand service atelier, with the goal of combining the identity systems of the two brands while preserving continuity with elements of the old corporate style.[5] The creative team included art director Andrey Kozhanov and designers Oleg Grinko and Sergey Shuvalov.[5] The project also produced a brand book and a design system covering color palette, typography, backgrounds, ornaments, pictograms and image style.[5]

Unistream’s own trademark registrations in Russia include the word mark “UNISTREAM” with the variants “UNIS TREAM” and “UNI STREAM,” registered in 2003.[6] A separate trademark for “UNISTREAM MONEY TRANSFERS UNISTREAM” was registered on November 16, 2018.[7]

Meaning and Symbolism

The trademark filing describes the mark as consisting of the wording “UNISTREAM” featured inside two ovals.[2] The pseudo mark “UNI STREAM” suggests a combination of “uni” and “stream,” though no official documentation of intended symbolism beyond the visual description is available in the research sources.
