Verisk Analytics, Inc. is a Jersey City-based data analytics and risk assessment company serving the insurance industry. The company’s visual identity underwent a significant transformation in early 2022, when Verisk introduced a new logo as part of a broader rebranding effort that unified its independent subsidiary brands under a single name.
Design and History
On January 31, 2022, Verisk President Mark Anquillare announced that the company’s insurance businesses and solutions, including ISO, AIR Worldwide, Sequel, Xactware, FAST and ISO Claims Partners, would transition away from their independent company names and become Verisk. The announcement also confirmed that a new Verisk logo would be introduced in 2022, with the stated goal of making it easier for customers to recognize and utilize Verisk’s products and services as the company’s portfolio had grown considerably over the prior decade.[1]
The new logo features a light blue “V” in the shape of a square root, symbolizing the company’s analytical accuracy, positioned between a series of horizontal dark blue lines radiating outward.[2] The design was met with mixed reactions, with at least one industry observer describing the new branding as “cartoon-ish” in a comment on Insurance Journal’s coverage of the company’s strategic shift.[3]
Prior to the 2022 rebrand, Verisk had used a different logo since its 2009 initial public offering. The company was established as the parent holding company of Insurance Services Office, Inc. upon completion of the IPO in October 2009.[3] In October 2010, Verisk introduced the “Verisk Insurance Solutions” brand to the marketplace, connecting its insurance-facing brands, including ISO, Xactware, AIR Worldwide and others, under a single umbrella while keeping those individual brand names active.[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The square-root shape of the “V” in the current Verisk logo is documented as symbolizing the company’s analytical accuracy.[2] The horizontal lines radiating outward from the “V” and the light blue and dark blue color scheme are visually documented elements of the mark, though no official source provides additional documented symbolism for these specific features.
Typography and Design
Verisk’s current wordmark uses a lowercase sans-serif typeface, as seen on the company’s official website and in its brand assets.[5] The specific typeface used in the 2022 logo has not been publicly identified in available sources. The design agency responsible for the 2022 rebrand has also not been publicly disclosed in the research reviewed.
