Stoli Logo PNG
The Stoli logo is a red script wordmark: the large looping “S” leads into compact, connected lettering, with a registered mark beside it. The shorter name sits at the center of the brand’s international identity. Stoli Group retired the Stolichnaya name for international markets in March 2022, while the Russian name continued separately, as Just Drinks reported.
Meaning and history

Stolichnaya means “from the capital” in Russian. The historical name appears in red script in the overview above; the Stoli version keeps the red cursive treatment but reduces the wordmark to a shorter name. The overview labels the two designs with date ranges, but those labels alone do not establish when either lettering design was introduced.
1979 – 2022

This image shows “Stolichnaya” in prominent red script, with the smaller word “vodka” beneath it. The long name stretches across the design, while the connected letters and sweeping capital S give it a continuous, handwritten appearance. A 1973 Benelux figurative mark for Stolichnaya is recorded in a Dutch court judgment, but that record does not establish the start date of this particular pictured lettering. The judgment documents the mark’s registration details.
2008 – Today

The shorter Stoli wordmark keeps the red script but uses fewer letters. Its capital S forms a large loop below the baseline, while the tall loop of the “l” and the compact final letters create a tighter shape. The heading’s “Today” label is consistent with the documented global use of the Stoli name: the change from Stolichnaya was announced for international markets in 2022, not 2008. Just Drinks covered the renaming.
The 2008 date relates to a documented advertising launch, followed by a 2009 repositioning that included bottle and label updates. Drinks International reported that the campaign drew attention to a stylized “S” on the label. Those relaunch dates provide packaging context, but do not date the Stoli name’s adoption as the global brand name. Drinks International covered the campaign and repositioning.
The 2022 name and label change
In March 2022, Stoli Group retired the Stolichnaya name for international markets and removed the Moscow building image from those labels. The red script remained a visual link across the name change, while the wording became shorter. News10 reported on the label changes and the shift away from Russian sourcing.
Later packaging added artwork around the wordmark rather than replacing it. A “Spirit of Change” pack update featured a Latvian city skyline and coordinates for ten cities, with a rollout reported across about 100 markets. Drinks Intel covered the update.
Wordmark and packaging details
Across the two pictured wordmarks, red script is the clearest point of continuity. The longer Stolichnaya design includes “vodka” as a smaller line; the Stoli design is shorter and accompanied by a registered mark. Label features such as the skyline or earlier date cartouche belong to packaging, rather than to the lettering itself. Trade coverage has also noted the use of the Stoli abbreviation on a red neck label. Rayon Boissons described those label elements.
Current identity
Stoli remains the international brand name, while the Stolichnaya name is held separately for Russia by the state body FKP Sojuzplodoimport, according to Just Drinks. The current wordmark’s red script connects it visually to the longer name, even as the 2022 change made the international identity more compact.
