Steelseries Logo

SteelSeries is a Danish gaming-peripherals company founded in Copenhagen in 2001 by Jacob Wolff-Petersen. Its identity is built around a lowercase “steelseries” wordmark and a compact circular emblem. The company began under the legal name Soft Trading ApS and adopted the SteelSeries name in 2007, after early products such as Icemat and Steelpad. SteelSeries’ company history describes that early development.

The SteelSeries wordmark, emblem and colours

The wordmark spells out “steelseries” entirely in lowercase. Beside it, the emblem combines a thick circular ring with a smaller central form and dot. Together, the elements make a compact mark that can be read as a wordmark-and-symbol lockup or reproduced in one colour on hardware. A design analysis of the SteelSeries identity describes the lowercase wordmark and ring-shaped emblem; it does not establish an official meaning for the symbol.

Some commentary compares the emblem to a turtle, but that is an unofficial interpretation, not a documented explanation from SteelSeries. The brand palette is described as orange (#FC4C02) and off-black (#0F0D0E) in the same design analysis. The logo can also appear in monochrome, as the black mark shown below demonstrates.

2001 – Today

This heading spans the company’s history, but it should not be taken to mean that the current logo dates to 2001. SteelSeries’ corporate name followed the earlier Soft Trading name in 2007; the available identity coverage describes the lowercase wordmark and ring emblem, without establishing their exact introduction date. The image shows the wordmark paired with the circular emblem in black.

SteelSeries’ identity has continued under a change of ownership. Axcel acquired the company in 2019; GN Store Nord announced an agreement to acquire it in October 2021, and completed the acquisition in January 2022. GN’s acquisition presentation and 2022 interim report document the deal. SteelSeries continues as a distinct brand within GN Audio.

The mark’s visual structure stays simple: the name is legible in lowercase, while the circular emblem remains recognizable beside it or on its own. Orange and off-black provide a wider brand palette, while monochrome versions suit product surfaces where a single-colour treatment is practical.
