FLSmidth & Co. A/S is a Danish technology and service provider for the global mining and cement industries, founded in Copenhagen on 2 January 1882 by Frederik Læssøe Smidth as a consultancy that purchased machinery and built small machines for local craftsmen.[1] The company is headquartered in Valby, Denmark.[2]
Design and History
In 2023, FLSmidth updated its brand and logo as part of a corporate strategy renewal under the name CORE’26, a new business approach introduced at the company’s Capital Markets Day in January 2023.[3][4] The brand update was designed to highlight the company’s first initials, FLS, with the stated goal of generating recall and staying top of mind among clients and the industry.[5] A company executive described the update as responding to “tradition and evolution; commitment and future.”[6]
The company’s official media library provides high-resolution versions of the FLS corporate logo for approved external communication.[7] The current corporate website uses the FLS name and branding.[8]
In a separate development, FLSmidth Cement was rebranded as Fuller, an independent company. The Fuller website notes that “sometimes a rebrand is just a new logo. This one isn’t,” emphasizing that the change represented clarity, direction, and renewed commitment rather than a simple visual update.[9]
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2023 brand update was explicitly tied to the company’s business philosophy of leading sustainable productivity for the challenges of future mining. The emphasis on the FLS initials was intended to strengthen brand recognition and communicate the company’s transformative value proposition centered on sustainability.[5][3]
Typography and Design
Brand asset data lists the FLS brand colors as including a blue tone with the hex code #004FFF and a dark blue with the hex code #002A54.[10] No official documentation of the logo’s typography or designer attribution was found in the available research.
