BitCore (BTX) is a cryptocurrency that launched on April 24, 2017 as a UTXO fork of Bitcoin, created by developers associated with the Bitsend (BSD) project.[1] The project’s official graphic identity materials, including press kits, logos, banners and stickers, were compiled by a contributor identified as DgCarlosLeon and published through the project’s GitHub repository.[1]
The BitCore identity is deliberately tied to Bitcoin. The project’s own documentation states that “BitCore is strongly related to Bitcoin and does not try to hide its origins.”[1] German crypto publication BTC-ECHO similarly observed that both the name and the logo evoke Bitcoin, leading many to assume BitCore was a hard fork in the style of Bitcoin Cash or Bitcoin Gold.[2]
The official graphic identity guide provides multiple logo variants, including a full-color version, a landscape version, a vertical version, and a text-only wordmark. The guide instructs users not to edit, change, distort, color or readjust the BitCore logo, and specifies that a simplified version without circuit elements should be used when the display space is smaller than 350 x 350 pixels.[1]
Meaning and Symbolism
The BitCore logo’s visual connection to Bitcoin is its most documented symbolic feature. The project’s name itself references Bitcoin’s “core strengths,” with BitCore created during the peak of Bitcoin’s scaling debate in April 2017.[1] The logo includes circuit-like elements in its full version, which are omitted in the smaller variant used for constrained spaces.[1]
Typography and Design
The BitCore brand guide specifies that the name is written with a capital “B” (BitCore) in prose, while the code form is all lowercase (bitcore). The guide explicitly rejects alternative capitalizations including “BitCore” with a capital C, “bitCore,” “bit-core” and “bit core.”[3] The official identity materials include a text-only wordmark variant alongside the full logo with circuit elements.[1]
