CoinDeal was a cryptocurrency exchange platform launched in March 2018 by co-founders Adam Bicz and Kajetan Maćkowiak.[1][2] The exchange ceased operations for retail clients in February 2023, citing unprofitability and damage to its brand from an unrelated SEC fraud case that used the CoinDeal name.[2][3]
Design and History
The CoinDeal logo was registered as a trademark by Verified Trading Solutions Limited, the company operating the exchange.[4] The mark consists of a blue “C” and a blue diamond inside a black circle, with the black wording “COINDEAL” appearing to the right of the circle.[4] Blue and black were claimed as features of the mark in the trademark filing.[4]
In July 2018, CoinDeal became the first cryptocurrency exchange to sponsor a Premier League football club, appearing on the left sleeve of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ shirts.[1][5] For the partnership, CoinDeal agreed to tweak the color of its logo to complement the club’s kit, a gesture acknowledged by Wolves managing director Laurie Dalrymple.[1]
The trademark application for the C COINDEAL mark was filed on July 17, 2019, and the mark was registered under registration number 6071971.[4] An Australian trademark filing for the same mark, application number 2046000, describes it as “LTR C WITH DIAMOND IN DISC” and lists blue hex values including #8dd0de and #74c9e2.[6]
Meaning and Symbolism
No official documentation has been found explaining the intended symbolism of the blue “C” or diamond elements in the CoinDeal logo. The trademark records describe only the visual composition of the mark without attributing specific meaning to its components.[4]
