Zonda is the cryptocurrency exchange formerly known as BitBay, a Polish-founded platform that rebranded in November 2021. The exchange, established in 2014, adopted the Zonda name and a new visual identity as part of a broader strategic shift toward regulation, education and global expansion. The name Zonda was chosen to reflect the “winds of change” taking place in the cryptocurrency industry at the time. [1]
Design and History
The Zonda rebrand was announced on November 8, 2021, when the company changed its name, logo and website, moving to the domain zondaglobal.com. The rebrand was accompanied by a new leadership team, with Przemysław Kral taking over as CEO. [2] The new visual identity was part of a strategy focused on regulation, simplification and education, aimed at growing the company’s global footprint. [3]
The new identity was built on three-dimensional illustrations with a pleasant palette and a geometric logo. The main visual metaphor was abstract forms growing upward, symbolizing the rise and fall of various cryptocurrency rates. [4]
In May 2023, the exchange announced another name change, this time to zondacrypto. The rebranding was promoted with a billboard campaign in Warsaw and Katowice and signaled the company’s focus on building a full ecosystem for both experienced and beginner investors. [5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The Zonda name derives from a warm, dry wind in the Andes mountains of Argentina. The wind in the Andes served as the inspiration for the brand’s new look, setting the mood for the identity. The name was described as rather abstract, yet it was intended to convey the energy, upward momentum and variability characteristic of financial winds. [6]
The accent elements of the new identity were created in a style of growth forms, each with its own color, allowing different currencies to be visually highlighted. The dynamics of shapes and colors created a visual unification, enabling rich and vivid systems for presenting various portfolios. [7]
Typography and Design
The current zondacrypto wordmark, as documented in a trademark filing, consists of the stylized wording “zondacrypto” with the left side of the wording in blue, gradually changing to purple, pink and orange in the middle, then transitioning back to purple and blue on the right side. The mark is followed by a design of two triangles arranged vertically in blue. [8]
