The World Power Conference was an international organization that held regular meetings on energy and power resources. Its 15th Sectional Meeting took place in Tokyo from October 16 to 20, 1966, organized by the Japanese National Committee of the World Power Conference.[1][2]
Design and History
Japanese graphic designer Yusaku Kamekura (1915-1997) is widely recognized for his work on major Japanese events, including the 1964 Tokyo Olympics logo and poster series, the 1970 Osaka Expo poster, and the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics.[3][4] He also designed posters for many other events throughout his career.[3]
While Kamekura’s involvement with the World Power Conference has been suggested in some sources, no verifiable documentation confirming that he designed a logo or poster specifically for the 1966 Tokyo sectional meeting has been located. The conference’s published transactions from the 1966 Tokyo meeting do not include any designer attribution for a logo or emblem.[1]
The World Power Conference itself was an established international body that had held sectional meetings in Tokyo as early as 1929, when the Japanese National Committee published the transactions of that earlier gathering.[5] The 1966 Tokyo meeting was one of several sectional meetings the organization held internationally, with its transactions published in multiple volumes covering topics such as national and international development of power resources and electric power development.[6]
Meaning and Symbolism
Because no verified source documents the design, symbolism, or official colors of a World Power Conference logo, no claims about its visual meaning can be reliably made. The conference’s published records focus on technical proceedings rather than visual identity.[7]
