The South West Festival Chorus (SWFC) is a mixed-voice choir based in the Bath area of the United Kingdom, conducted by Jason Thornton and David Whitehead.[1] The choir performs concerts with professional orchestras and has toured internationally, including to China and India.[1]
Design and History
The South West Festival Chorus symbol was designed at Northbank, a multidisciplinary graphic design consultancy based near Bath, in 2010.[2] Northbank was founded in 1998 by Maria Bez, Simon Cryer, and Robert Shaw, and operated as an independent design studio until 2023.[3][4]
The mark is described as a circle logo incorporating dot and reflection shapes, with a sun motif.[2] The design uses a circular composition with a central dot element and reflected shapes, creating a simple, geometric emblem for the choir.
Meaning and Symbolism
Documented symbolism for the South West Festival Chorus mark is limited. The logo’s circular form and sun motif are the primary visual elements noted in available sources.[2] No official interpretation of the design’s meaning has been published by the choir or the design studio.
