Wilmar International Limited, founded in 1991 and headquartered in Singapore, is Asia’s leading agribusiness group, with business activities spanning oil palm cultivation, oilseed crushing, edible oils refining, sugar milling and refining, and the manufacturing of consumer products, specialty fats, oleochemicals, biodiesel and fertilisers.[1] The company operates over 1,000 manufacturing plants with a distribution network covering China, India, Indonesia and some 50 other countries and regions.[2]
Design and History
The current Wilmar logo is a combination mark featuring the lowercase wordmark “wilmar” in a gray-olive tone, paired with an emblem of two intersecting shapes resembling downward-pointing check marks. Together, these shapes form a stylized letter “W” that connects to the first letter of the name.[3] The mark is reported to have been adopted in 2018.[4]
The company name itself derives from the partnership between its two founders: “Wil” comes from William, the nickname of Kuok Khoon Hong, and “Mar” from Martua Sitorus, who together established the business.[5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The stylized “W” emblem formed by the two intersecting check-mark shapes is directly connected to the first letter of the company name, reinforcing the Wilmar wordmark.[3] The short name and the letter “W” together reference the history of the partnership between Kuok Khoon Hong and Martua Sitorus.[3]
Typography and Design
The Wilmar wordmark uses a lowercase sans-serif typeface. The logo’s primary color is a deep teal, with supporting tones of muted blue-gray and gray-olive used across the identity.[4][6]
