The Société dentaire de Montréal (Montreal Dental Society) is a professional association for dentists practicing in the Montreal area. The organization publishes a monthly bulletin and maintains an active continuing education program for its members.[1]
Design and History
The Société dentaire de Montréal’s 50th anniversary logo was created in 1972 by Pierre Fleury, a Montreal-based graphic designer. Fleury (1937-2021) practiced graphic design for more than 50 years and was a co-founder of the Société des designers graphistes du Québec, serving as its director from 1973 to 1977.[2][3]
Fleury was known for his synthesis of ideas and the rigor of his graphic decisions, which led him to produce highly effective communication tools. He was also recognized for his characteristic and irresistible humorous illustration style.[2]
The anniversary mark was produced during Fleury’s early career period, before he established the Fleury/Savard design firm with Francine Savard in 1979.[2]
Meaning and Symbolism
Documented descriptions of the specific visual elements or symbolic meaning of the 50th anniversary logo are not available in public sources. The mark commemorates the society’s half-century of service to the Montreal dental community, but its precise graphic content remains undocumented in accessible records.
