Dubix was a French manufacturer of professional and industrial laundry equipment, founded in Paris in 1903 and later based in Troyes. The company operated under the names Dubix and, after a merger, Dubix de Souza before being acquired by Electrolux in 1987. In 2003, the Dubix brand was retired when the operation adopted the Electrolux Laundry Systems name. [1]

Design and History

Dubix originated in 1903 in Paris and relocated to Troyes in 1951. The company initially produced wooden barrels before shifting to laundry machinery. In 1966, the Fonteix group absorbed Dubix, and in 1967 Dubix merged with De Souza, another laundry equipment maker that had moved onto the same site in Rosières. The combined entity operated as Dubix de Souza. [1]

In 1987, Dubix de Souza joined the Electrolux group. The brand continued under the Dubix de Souza name for over a decade. In 2003, a century after the company’s founding, the Dubix name was dropped in favor of Electrolux Laundry Systems. [1]

Documented visual identity materials for the Dubix and Dubix de Souza marks are limited in the available record. A trademark registration for “Dubix-de Souza la dynamique du propre” was filed with WIPO, indicating the brand name was formally protected, but the registration is now listed as dead. [2]

Some sources attribute a Dubix logo design to Swiss-born graphic designer Rudi Meyer, who worked in Paris and created corporate identity programs for clients including Waterman and Banque Nationale de Paris. [3] However, no primary or authoritative source confirming Meyer’s involvement with a Dubix logo, the design date, or the mark’s visual appearance was found in this research. The specific design details of the Dubix logo therefore remain unverified.

Because the Dubix brand was absorbed into Electrolux in 2003, the company no longer maintains an independent visual identity. [1]
