Industriezweig Armaturen was a German industrial fittings brand active in the 1960s. Its symbol was designed by Herbert Prüget in 1965, according to logo documentation that attributes the mark to the Berlin-based graphic artist.[1]

Design and History

Herbert Prüget (1914-1979) was a graphic artist, draftsman and illustrator who worked in the German Democratic Republic.[2] He was born in Berlin on January 28, 1914, and died there on August 22, 1979.[3] Prüget gained particular recognition for a substantial number of trademarks and logos he created, several of which became widely distributed in the GDR, including marks for Sachsenring, the Konsum cooperative, the GDR travel agency, the Henschel publishing house and the Staatsverlag.[4]

Prüget also contributed to the 1970 publication “Marken, Zeichen, Signete der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik” (Marks, Signs and Signets of the German Democratic Republic), issued by the GDR artists’ association’s graphics section.[5]

The Industriezweig Armaturen mark is documented as one of Prüget’s 1965 designs.[1] The brand name translates to “industrial branch: fittings,” reflecting its role in the fittings and valves sector. The logo is catalogued among rounded logo designs associated with German industrial branding of the period.[1]

No official documentation has been located that describes the specific visual elements, construction method or intended symbolism of the Industriezweig Armaturen mark in detail. The attribution to Prüget and the 1965 date rest on logo cataloguing rather than on a primary design source.
