Multimatic Inc. is a Canadian privately held company headquartered near Toronto that supplies components, systems, complete vehicles and engineering services to the global automotive industry.[1] The company operates through four groups, including Multimatic Mechanisms, which was established in 1984 and produces automotive hinge systems, door checks, complex mechanisms, powered closures and aerodynamic systems.[1]
Design and History
Multimatic filed a Canadian trademark application for its logo on June 23, 1993, with registration published on July 14, 1995.[2] The company also holds a registered US trademark for the slogan “Strength Through Technology,” filed April 20, 2010 and registered June 21, 2011.[3] The slogan also appears on the company’s official website as “Strength through technology.”[4]
Multimatic, Multimatic Motorsports, Multimatic DSSV and associated logos are registered or claimed trademarks of Multimatic Inc. and are used under license by third-party product manufacturers.[5]
Meaning and Symbolism
Documented interpretation of the Multimatic logo’s symbolism is limited. One presentation about the company suggests the logo may be interpreted in different ways, representing either the pipes of the plant or the sun rising in the mountains.[6]
