Slovakian Print Industry is a name associated with a 1981 logo credited to Czech graphic designer Jiří Rathouský (1924-2003). Rathouský was a prominent Czechoslovak designer known for the Prague Metro wayfinding system, numerous logos, book covers and film posters.[1]

Design and History

Jiří Rathouský was born in Prague on 20 April 1924 and studied art education at the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University in Prague from 1945 to 1949.[2] He is recognized as one of the most significant graphic designers and typographers of the Czech post-war generation.[3]

Rathouský created logos for a range of clients, including the publisher Albatros and the Sparta sports club.[4] His work also extended to the Hotel Intercontinental in Prague and the Hotel Thermal in Karlovy Vary, for which he developed graphic identities in the 1970s.[5]

Documentation of a 1981 logo specifically tied to the Slovakian Print Industry is limited in available sources. The Moravian Gallery in Brno holds a 1981 logo by Rathouský, but it is identified as a logo for the magazine Opus Musicum, not the Slovakian Print Industry.[6] No verifiable primary source has been found that confirms the existence, appearance or design intent of a Slovakian Print Industry logo by Rathouský from 1981.

Given the absence of corroborating evidence, details about the mark’s visual composition, geometric forms or symbolism cannot be reliably confirmed.
