Ross Murarka (India) Private Limited is a Mumbai-based company incorporated on 31 August 1974, classified under business services and consumer goods sectors.[1][2] The company’s visual identity was created by Sudarshan Dheer, one of India’s most prolific corporate logo designers, who also designed marks for Hindustan Petroleum, Titan, Kissan, and the ESSAR Group.[3]
Design and History
Sudarshan Dheer (1937-2018) designed trademarks and symbols for Ross Maraka India Pvt. Ltd. as part of his corporate identity practice.[4] Dheer established his own design studio, Graphic Communication Concepts, in 1974, after concluding that corporate identity work was not profitable within the deadline-driven structure of advertising agencies.[3]
Dheer’s corporate identity symbols were described by the American artist Paul Peter Piech, who worked briefly with him, as having “a pure sense of grace, beauty and fresh inventiveness that give a bold and vigorous visual identity.”[5] Dheer published two books documenting his work, The World of Symbols/Logos & Trademarks-India, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.[3]
The company’s current status is listed as “Strike Off,” indicating it is no longer an active corporate entity.[1] Its longest-serving directors, Rosslyn Alexander Deas and Lynn Deas, were appointed at incorporation in 1974.[1]
Meaning and Symbolism
No documented description of the specific visual elements, colors, or symbolic meaning of the Ross Murarka logo has been located in available sources. The mark is known only through the attribution to Sudarshan Dheer, whose broader design philosophy emphasized conceptual clarity and precise color reproduction in print production.[5]
Logo Index is an independent educational archive covering logos, visual identities and graphic design history. All trademarks and brand assets remain the property of their respective owners.
