Sky Sport 24 is an Italian all-news sports television channel operated by Sky Italia, broadcasting continuous sports news and analysis on channel 200.[1] Launched on August 30, 2008, it was the first all-news sports channel in Italy.[2] The channel’s visual identity has been updated several times, typically aligning with the broader Sky Sports branding used across Sky’s international operations.
Design and History
Sky Sport 24 launched in 2008 with graphics described as innovative and in line with the Sky Sport brand’s authority.[2] On July 2, 2015, the channel renewed its logo and graphics to align with Sky Sports News.[3]
A more significant change came on July 2, 2018, when Sky Sport 24 changed its logo and graphics again, this time aligning with the English Sky Sports version, as part of a broader rebrand of the entire Sky Sport channel lineup in Italy.[3] The 2018 refresh coincided with the channel’s tenth anniversary, with Sky describing it as a change of “graphic look” while the channel remained the reference point for sports news.[4] The channel’s studio was also renewed at this time.[5]
On September 19, 2020, Sky Sport 24 renewed its logo once more.[3] The most recent update came on January 7, 2026, when the channel again renewed its logo, once more aligning with the Sky Sports branding.[3]
Meaning and Symbolism
The Sky Sport 24 logo has consistently followed the visual language of the wider Sky Sports brand rather than developing an independent symbol. In 2018, the broader Sky Sports rebrand in the UK, which influenced the Italian channels, was described by its designers as moving from uppercase to lowercase lettering to create a logo that was “simpler and more refined.”[6] That project was led by Sky Creative and the design agency Nomad, with brand typographer Miles Newlyn contributing to the logo evolution.[6]
Typography and Design
For the 2018 Sky Sports rebrand, Nomad worked with Swiss Typefaces to create a bespoke typeface called Sky Sports Display, based on the foundry’s Euclid Flex face. The typeface had five cuts used for different sports, each sharing the same footprint while aiming to capture the essence of each sport.[6] The Sky Sport 24 channel identity in Italy has followed this broader Sky Sports typographic system rather than employing a distinct custom typeface of its own.
