TRT EBA TV is the educational television service created through the collaboration of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) and the Ministry of Education, launched in March 2020 to broadcast school lessons during the COVID-19 pandemic.[1] The service initially operated three channels for primary, secondary and high school students.[2]
Design and History
The TRT EBA TV identity is built on the EBA (Educational Informatics Network) brand, which is the Ministry of Education’s official digital education platform. The EBA logo underwent a renewal completed by the Ministry’s General Directorate, with the new logo distributed to schools and made available for download from the official EBA website.[3] The updated EBA logo was introduced alongside a new version of the platform in December 2016.[4]
When the television channels were established in 2020, the then-Minister of Education stated that the channel would be named “EBA TV” and would carry the EBA logo, with separate branding for the primary, secondary and high school variants.[5] The channels were established within 10 days of the pandemic’s onset in Turkey.[2]
In January 2024, the TRT EBA TV Ortaokul (secondary school) channel was renamed TRT EBA, and the primary and high school channels were discontinued, leaving TRT EBA as the sole remaining channel.[6]
Meaning and Symbolism
The EBA logo is governed by an official corporate identity guide issued by the Ministry of National Education’s General Directorate of Innovation and Educational Technologies. The guide specifies that the logo must not be deformed, incorrectly scaled or altered in any way, and it also establishes rules for how the EBA logo may be used alongside the Ministry of National Education logo.[7]
