Vaporette Chemical was a Dallas, Texas-based manufacturer of pesticide and pest-control products, operating under the name Vaporette Inc. and later as Vaporette Chemical Co. Div. The company is best remembered for its Vaporette brand pesticide vaporizers, which were sold with boxes and printed instructions bearing the company’s name and product graphics.[1]

Design and History

Vaporette Inc. filed a trademark for the VAPORETTE word mark on September 8, 1952, covering “disposable vaporizers having insecticide molded thereto.”[2] A separate VAPORETTE trademark was later registered under registration number 0907012, covering chemicals in strip form for use in odor elimination.[3]

Surviving packaging from the company’s pesticide vaporizer products shows a label design with blue and white text on an orange background, accompanied by a graphic of the vaporizer device itself.[1] The product instructions were titled “The New Improved Vaporette,” indicating that the company updated its product packaging and branding over time.[1]

Later product listings identify the company as Vaporette Chemical Co. Div., with an address at 12200 Denton Drive in Dallas, Texas.[4] The company produced a range of pest-control products under this name, including fire ant bait, mosquito repellent, and flea and tick control products.[5][6]

Meaning and Symbolism

The Vaporette brand name derives from the company’s core product category: vaporizer devices that dispensed insecticide. The product packaging prominently displayed the vaporizer graphic alongside the brand name, visually linking the word mark to the device itself.[1] The documented color scheme on the surviving box label, blue and white text on an orange background, represents the only verifiable color information available for the brand’s packaging identity.[1]
