Dansk Droge Import was a Danish pharmaceutical and health-products company whose visual identity dates to 1968. The company, later known as Dansk Droge A/S, manufactured and marketed vitamins, dietary supplements, homeopathic medicines and natural remedies, with brands including Gerimax, Futura, Livol and Litozin.[1]
Design and History
The Dansk Droge Import symbol was designed by Danish designer Morten Peetz-Schou in 1968.[2] Peetz-Schou (1938-2020) was a Danish designer and art director who trained at Kunsthåndværkerskolen in Copenhagen and worked as a graphic designer for furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen early in his career.[3] He later ran his own firm, Genius Koncept, specializing in corporate identity and product packaging design.[3]
The 1968 mark is described as a semi-circle design associated with Denmark.[2] Beyond the designer attribution and the semi-circle form, detailed documentation of the mark’s construction or later revisions is limited in available sources.
Meaning and Symbolism
The mark’s semi-circle shape has been linked to Denmark in logo databases,[2] but no primary source confirms an intended national or pharmaceutical meaning behind the design.
Typography and Design
The logo’s typography cannot be verified from available research materials.
In May 2006, Orkla announced the acquisition of Dansk Droge from Polaris Private Equity, which held 72 percent of the shares.[4] The company was described at the time as the leading drug company in Denmark in multivitamins, dietary supplements and homeopathic medicines.[1]
