Robb Report is a luxury lifestyle media brand founded in 1976, originally as a newsletter devoted to advertisements for new and vintage Rolls-Royces distributed in affluent California neighborhoods.[1] The brand expanded over four decades into an international publication with editions spanning 17 countries and nine languages.[2]
Design and History
In June 2017, Robb Report unveiled a 360-degree brand refresh, encompassing a redesigned print magazine and a new, fully responsive website.[2] The refresh came after Penske Media Corporation (PMC) partnered on Robb Report with Rockbridge Growth Equity in December 2016.[2]
The 2017 redesign introduced several notable changes to the publication’s visual presentation. The print magazine’s trim size expanded to 9 x 11 inches from the previous 8 x 10 inches.[2] The refresh also unveiled brand-new illustrated covers, described as a segment first, enabling Robb Report to express facets of luxury through illustration.[2] The new design emphasized classic style lightened with a bit of whimsy, with cleaner graphics and fonts and more white space.[3]
Jay Penske, CEO and chairman of Penske Media Corporation, described the new aesthetic as one that exemplifies passion in a highly visual and deeply engaging design.[2]
Typography and Design
Details about the specific typeface used in the Robb Report wordmark are not documented in available official sources. The 2017 refresh did, however, include a broader typographic update across the print and digital products, with the redesign incorporating cleaner graphics and fonts.[3] The brand’s visual identity is built around its typographic wordmark, which appears across its magazine covers, website and international editions.
