Bluecore is a New York-based retail marketing technology company founded in 2013 that provides AI-driven personalization for retailers. The company was originally launched as TriggerMail before rebranding to Bluecore in January 2015, a name change intended to signal its expansion beyond triggered email into broader retail marketing automation.[1]
Design and History
Bluecore’s current visual identity dates to a 2018 rebrand led by Paige Gildner, who served as the company’s Design Lead and Creative Director. Following a $35 million Series C fundraise, Bluecore sought to refresh its visual identity to stand out in a saturated market. Gildner’s team developed multiple logo concepts and color schemes over 4.5 months, guided by the company’s core values of Powerful, Thoughtful, and Straightforward.[2]
The rebrand was prompted by practical problems with the previous identity. Bluecore’s pre-existing brand fell flat in usability, contrast, and market appeal. The color palette lacked accessibility, and the 3-D logo proved challenging to work with across applications. The redesign produced a new company logo, Bluecore’s first-ever brand guidelines, business cards, email signatures, company swag, and more than 25 rebranded marketing materials.[2]
In 2019, Bluecore’s updated company brand won Silver in the Technology category of the International Visual Identity Awards.[2]
Meaning and Symbolism
The final logo mark is a simplified evolution of Bluecore’s earlier logo, designed to reveal a mountain summit. According to Edmund Boey, a designer who worked on the project, Bluecore’s existing logo was one the company strongly identified with, so the new mark was created as a “simplistic twist” on it rather than a complete departure. The colors used in the new mark were drawn from the company’s existing logo.[3]
Secondary visuals extended the mountain theme through ridge lines and mountain tops, which offered flexible applications across brand materials.[3]
Typography and Design
Brand asset databases document Bluecore’s current brand colors as including a deep blue tone (hex #0A20A0, identified as Torea Bay) and an “Energy Yellow” (hex #FBDD4D).[4] The rebrand also introduced a new font as part of the full identity refresh.[5]
Bluecore’s Summit event, held in September 2019, received its own logo treatment designed to reflect the state of retail technology and Bluecore’s place in the tech stack. The Summit logo featured disjointed letters appearing in motion, symbolizing Bluecore’s impact on retail customers who adopt the technology to unite their digital marketing efforts.[6]
