Daido Interior

Daido Interior's logo, crafted by Kenji Ito in the 1960s, uses clean, geometric forms that reflect Japan's post-war shift toward modern retail aesthetics. The design likely draws from traditional Japanese motifs while keeping a minimalist, approachable feel for a home goods store. It's a subtle nod to the era's balance between cultural heritage and contemporary commercial needs.

Daido Interior (株式会社大同インテリア) is a Japanese company registered in Tokyo’s Setagaya ward, with its head office located at Ohara 1-24-4, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo.[1] The company’s corporate number was assigned on October 5, 2015, when Japan’s national corporate number system was introduced.[2]

Design and History

Despite the company’s long-standing presence in the Japanese interior goods market, no verifiable documentation of a distinctive Daido Interior logo, its designer, or a specific design history has been located in available public records. The company’s corporate registration confirms only its legal name, reading “Daido Interior” (ダイドウインテリア), and its registered address.[1]

Claims that a logo was created by a designer named Kenji Ito in the 1960s, or that the mark drew on traditional Japanese motifs, cannot be substantiated by any primary or secondary source found in this research. Kenji Ito (伊藤憲治, 1915-2001) was indeed a prominent postwar Japanese graphic designer, best known for the Canon logo created in 1953 and window displays for the Wako department store from 1956 to 1982.[3][4] However, no record connects him to Daido Interior.

It is also worth noting that the name “Daido Interior” is shared by at least one other unrelated Japanese entity, Daido Interior LLC (大同インテリア有限会社), registered in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture.[5] This further complicates any attempt to attribute a single visual identity to the name without official documentation.

Meaning and Symbolism

No documented symbolism, color scheme, or typographic specification for a Daido Interior logo could be verified from available sources. The company name “Daido” (大同) is a common Japanese corporate prefix meaning “great harmony” or “great togetherness,” but no source confirms that this meaning was intentionally reflected in any logo design.

Until the company publishes official brand guidelines or a corporate identity statement, any description of a Daido Interior logo, its designer, or its symbolic content remains speculative.
